Fishing for Scholarships: A Day of Community and Connection

Platinum Systems Sponsors Annual Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship Fish Outing

Platinum Systems had the honor of sponsoring the annual Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship Fish Outing, held in beautiful Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 1st. This vibrant event brought together community leaders and businesses in support of local scholarships, promoting education and community engagement.

We were privileged to host a distinguished group on our boat, including the Mayor of Waupun, Wisconsin, Rohn Bishop, and the Kenosha County Executive, Samantha Kerkman. Their presence added a special touch to the day as we enjoyed not only the thrill of fishing but also engaging discussions about the growth and development of Kenosha, its surrounding areas, and Waupun.

Our team and guests were delighted to catch a total of 19 fish, making the outing both exciting and fruitful. The shared enthusiasm for the sport and the lively conversation created an atmosphere of camaraderie and connection.

For Mayor Rohn Bishop, this was his second trip to Kenosha for this event. As with last year, he had an absolute blast, sharing his passion for Waupun and contributing to the vibrant dialogue about our communities. Reflecting on his experience, Mayor Bishop expressed, "I am incredibly grateful for the invitation to join this year's Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship Fish Outing. It was a fantastic experience seeing the growth and development in the Kenosha area from just a year ago. Fishing alongside the Kenosha County Executive, Samantha Kerkman, was truly a highlight, and it was great to share such a memorable day on Lake Michigan. A big thank you to the Chamber and Dave Strash for organizing such a wonderful event that supports such an important cause."

Reflecting on last year’s event, where Mayor Bishop braved rough lake conditions to catch a nice coho salmon, it’s clear that this outing continues to be a remarkable opportunity for fostering relationships and supporting the Chamber’s scholarship fund. Mayor Bishop's participation this year and last was facilitated by Dan Schlicht from Platinum Systems, a Kenosha-based managed services and cybersecurity provider, who invited him as their guest. Dan, an employee of Platinum for over 23 years and a resident of the Waupun area, has been instrumental in connecting leaders from both communities.

Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman also shared her appreciation for the event, saying, "It was a beautiful afternoon of fishing alongside Kenosha County's magnificent freshwater coast, and a terrific opportunity for networking with our Chamber partners. All the while, we were supporting the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation's scholarship fund, paving the way for future opportunities for high school students and adult learners in our community. My thanks go to Platinum Systems and all of the other sponsors who came together to make this possible."

Dave Strash, Executive Director of the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce, echoed these sentiments: "The annual Scholarship Fish Outing is a testament to the power of community collaboration. It's amazing to witness leaders and residents from different areas unite on Lake Michigan, sharing in the joy of fishing while supporting the chamber's scholarship fund. This event underscores our commitment to fostering educational opportunities and strengthening regional bonds. We're grateful to Platinum Systems and all our participants for making this day a resounding success."

Platinum Systems is proud to support events like these that strengthen community ties and support educational opportunities. We look forward to participating in future outings and continuing our commitment to community involvement.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day memorable!
